About CRS

Project Background
CRS is working in partnership with World Food Programmed on a five-year project to serve school meals in primary schools across Laos. Working closely with the Ministry of Education and Sports, the project mobilizes community capacity to serve daily meals to students at school, while also providing support for literacy, water and sanitation, and school gardening. The project will operate in Mahaxay district of Khammouane province.
Job Summary:
You will assist programming field activities by working directly with community members and Government of Lao PDR (GOL) staff in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work to serve the poor and vulnerable. Your service and community interpersonal skills contribute to projects that benefit local communities that consistently applies best practices and continuously works towards improving its impact.
Roles and Key Responsibilities:
- Support programming activities at the field level adhering to defined implementation schedules and report as required.
- Contribute to ensuring accountability to project beneficiaries and local stakeholders.
- Support the monitoring of project activities at the field level, per the M&E plan through collection of data.
- Support community mobilization efforts through regular visits to project sites, coaching, and communication and information sharing with project beneficiaries at the community level.
- In coordination with the project team, support capacity building events or other project activities for community members, including volunteers, and/or teaching staff.
Basic Qualifications
- Higher Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree a plus.
- Some work or volunteer experience in supporting community development and mobilization.
Required/Desired Language- Excellent written and spoken Lao required. Proficiency in Bru or other languages spoken in Khammouane province a plus. English proficiency desired.
Travel Required – Approximately 70% of the time visiting project sites in Khammouane Province by motorbike. Regular travel to/from the CRS office in Khammouane and/or Savannakhet is required.
