Agriculture & Irrigation Specialist

The agriculture and irrigation specialist will provide technical data and information management support to the team, covering survey design and performance monitoring system implementation. Ensure project quality through effective monitoring and accurate best practice documentation. Assist in developing annual workplans and monthly reports. Co-build budgets, monitor them, and ensure administrative compliance. Facilitate communication with local authorities for negotiation, planning, and reporting. Promote partner collaboration through networks and meetings. Contribute to developing and monitoring skills-building training plans for staff, partners, and beneficiaries.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture with at least ten years of relevant experience, including directing/coordinating at least three rural development projects.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in diverse cropping systems, familiarity with agro-ecology (especially Conservation Agriculture), and tools for local capacity development.
• Experience in irrigated agriculture, small-scale irrigation systems, and participatory land use planning; experience with groundwater use and water user organizations is a plus; fluent in English
