Last updated:2009-04-07 03:03:58

The purpose of the RDM/A project is to provide technical support to USAID HIV/AIDS prevention, care & treatment programs focused on MARPs.
Through USAID support, FHI aims to maintain low HIV prevalence among SWs, considered to be a most-at-risk population (MARP) in Laos, in an effort to maintain negligible HIV rates among the general population.  FHI/Laos program focuses on increasing quality and coverage of a minimum package of services (MPS) for service women (SW) in four USAID provincial hotspots: 1) Vientiane; 2) Savannakhet; 3) Luang Prabang; and, 4) Champasak.  The MPS approach, which includes the provision of targeted HIV prevention and services for MARPs. The project also aims to support services in the provincial SW wellness centers, to promote participatory behavior change communication (BCC) activities, to support sexually transmitted infection (STI) and VCT services, and to provide referrals to HIV care and treatment.  FHI will also provide technical assistance (TA) in surveillance, as requested by the Laos National Centre for HIV/AIDS/STI (CHAS).
