Consultant Assignment
Position: Consultant’s biodiversity support for CRxN project
Supervised by: Biodiversity Officer
Work location: Pakse’s field office, WWF-Laos
Duration: 9 months (April to December 2026)
- Objective
The primary objective of this role is to support the CRxN II project through field-based biodiversity conservation activities. These include restoration efforts, SMART patrolling, awareness raising, community outreach, data collection, and technical support, all aimed at strengthening conservation in seven target villages in Khong District, Champasak Province.
- Scope of work/ Major responsibility
- Support biodiversity field surveys and monitoring activities (e.g., monthly patrol, planting, land-use planning and restoration).
- Assist with data collection, photo documentation, and reporting.
- Support organizing community and school-based awareness-raising activities.
- Support preparing materials for training and outreach activity.
- Support the delivery of biodiversity conservation trainings in coordination with DLF and WWF-Laos, acting as a co-facilitator.
- Assist in coordination with PAEO, DLF, LFS and local communities to ensure smooth implementation of biodiversity conservation, restoration and law enforcement activities.
- Participate in monthly planning and monitoring meetings with relevant government offices and provide summaries of village-level feedback or issues to the supervisor.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for field missions.
- Coordinate with local stakeholders as needed under supervision.
- Qualifications and Experience
Education/Knowledge/Experience:
- Diploma/Bachelor or recent graduate in environmental science, agriculture, forestry, development or related fields.
- Knowledge and experience of biodiversity and conservation practices
- Knowledge of SMART mobile patrol system, river patrols, Geographic Information System (GIS) will be advantageous.
- Familiarity with computer applications/software (e.g. MS offices, Words, Excel).
- Experience in working with local communities of Laos.
- Experience in data collection and data entry.
Skills and Abilities:
- Willingness to travel and work in remote village settings.
- Familiarity with GPS devices and Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tools (SMART) is an advantage.
- Basic English communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn and think proactively.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Adaptability and openness to new challenges.
