HELVETAS Laos is a development organization operating in Laos since 2001. Our vision is a just world in which all men and women determine the course of their lives in dignity and security, using environmental resources in a sustainable manner.
Program Description
We pursue a three-pronged goal by fostering locally led development aligned with Lao PDR’s priorities; supporting people and partners to shape and implement policy; and facilitating development processes that build a just, equitable, and productive society.
We ensure basic rights by enhancing water and food security, building climate-resilient communities, and managing natural resources and landscapes sustainably.
We create new perspectives by fostering decent employment and income opportunities and developing professional and life skills for a green, transformative economy—accelerating entrepreneurship, private sector, and inclusive markets.
We strengthen good governance by amplifying local voices and expanding civic space so civil society can participate in inclusive decision-making and advocate for gender-responsive, socially inclusive public services.
Our program architecture is built on three interconnected working areas:Water, Food & Climate (WFC): integrating disaster and climate resilience in food and water sectors and ensuring equitable access to basic services and natural resources.Skills, Jobs & Income (SJI): linking education and skills with economic opportunity to create new perspectives.Voice, Inclusion & Cohesion (VIC): promoting rights-based, inclusive, and accountable approaches to strengthen good governance.Measuring what matters, we shape our results framework around three categories of performance indicators: People (outreach), Partnership (institutional and capacity development), and Policy (improved framework conditions).
