Program Description

Enfants d’Asie (EA) implements child protection and education programs in three target areas in Lao PDR: Vientiane Capital, Luang Prabang Province and Oudomxay Province. Our interventions aim to improve access to quality education, strengthen child protection and promote the well-being, empowerment and rights of vulnerable children and young people.

1. Individualized socio-educational support

EA provides individualized socio-educational support to vulnerable children and young people through tailored assistance based on their needs, circumstances and aspirations. This includes educational support, school supplies, health and nutrition assistance, psychosocial support, and guidance to help children remain in school, prevent dropout and pursue their educational and personal development. Through regular monitoring and collaboration with families, schools and local partners, EA promotes each child’s well-being, inclusion and long-term opportunities.

2. Improving living and learning conditions in target schools

EA works with selected schools and local communities to improve the physical, sanitary and educational environments in which children learn and grow. Activities include the construction and renovation of school facilities, dormitories, water supply and sanitation systems, as well as the provision of essential equipment and learning materials. These interventions aim to create safer, healthier and more inclusive learning environments, particularly for children living in rural and disadvantaged areas, while strengthening schools’ capacity to support attendance, retention and learning outcomes.

3. Capacity building and promotion of children’s rights through collective activities EA strengthens the capacities of children, families, Youth Volunteers, schools and local partners through participatory workshops and collective activities focused on key child rights and development issues. Topics include non-formal education and life skills, hygiene and health, nutrition, the right to sport and leisure, financial literacy, and child protection, including prevention of violence and exploitation. These activities encourage children’s participation, self-confidence and decision-making skills, while equipping communities and local stakeholders with practical knowledge to better protect children and support their development.
