Mission Statement
Established in 1979, Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) has since been striving to assist the most vulnerable, wherever they are. Responding to the humanitarian crises and assisting those affected by hardships, AAR Japan has worked in more than 60 countries and areas over the past 40 years.
Program Description
AAR Japan Vientiane Office has been involved in support for persons with disabilities in Lao P.D.R. In 2000-2011, AAR Japan, together with the National Rehabilitation Center(CMR), produced and distributed wheelchair all over the country. Since 2012, AAR Japan has provided technical trainings for small-scale income generation activity for persons with disabilities in Vientiane and Sayabouly Provinces, in cooperation with the Lao Disabled Persons Association.
During 2018-2021 (-Feb), AAR Japan continues working partnership with LDPA to provide small-scale income generation activity for persons with disabilities in Sayabouly and Oudomxay Provinces. AAR Japan and LDPA also holds several awareness raising workshops on Disability Rights and Equity Training in those provinces for government officials and the community, including village chief, persons with disabilities and their family.
