Based in Xiengkhouang Province (60%) and Vientiane Province (40%)
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is an INGO with an active global network of more than 115 countries around the world. As part of the worldwide network, ADRA Lao PDR is working in rural communities in the sectors of agriculture and livelihood development, health and nutrition, natural resource management, climate change mitigation, gender, and inclusion. In times of crisis, ADRA responds to disasters through network support and in close collaboration with local authorities. Since 1992, ADRA Laos has implemented over 120 projects across 13 provinces of Laos.
This year (2025) ADRA Laos is awarded Phase II of Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Livelihoods Initiative (SARLI) by Deutschland’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and ADRA Germany. The project’s primary goal is to contribute to the overall socio-economic and rural development and poverty reduction of Lao PDR by promoting resilience and sustainable livelihoods of inclusive farmer households in Xiengkhouang and Vientiane Province (SDG 12 Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns and 13 Take urgent action to address climate change and its impacts). Specifically, it will strengthen capacity of implementing partners, young farmers, and inclusive farmer organizations in Good Agriculture Practice and Climate Smart Agriculture, enhance agribusiness skills and market linkage, and improve local organizational resilience.
The project will begin field activity implementation in early 2026, and ADRA Laos is seeking committed, experienced, and competent employees to fill the following 5 positions:
- Project Manager
- Business Development Officer
- Climate Change Officer
- Finance/Admin Assistant
- Logistics Assistant/Driver
These positions are expected to spend most of their time in Xiengkhouang (60%) and from time to time travel to implement activities in Vientiane Province (40%).
Climate Change Officer:
The Climate Change Officer will perform a variety of technical and administrative functions including implementation, coordination, mobilization of farmer organisations and deliver climate change adaptation and mitigation actions to increase their resiliency to climate change impacts on farming production.
Key Selection Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, climate change, rural or community development, or relevant field of study, Master highly desirable
- Demonstrated professional experience of at least 3 years working with international development programs in mobilising communities and applying technical expertise, knowledge, and skills
- Demonstrated technical expertise and experience supporting farmers in agriculture and climate change initiatives
- Demonstrated technical experience working with young farmers and the application of innovative agricultural technologies and practices
- Demonstrated experience working with government counterparts and multiple stakeholders to mobilise and implement project activities with solid understanding of Lao PDR agriculture systems, protocols, policies, practices, and participatory approaches to rural development
- Ability to work independently, plan, priorities, solve problems, and make sound decisions
- Display a positive attitude and have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; fluent in Lao language; with Khmu, Hmong and English language highly regarded
- Able to travel or based in both Xiengkhouang and Vientiane Provinces
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs.
