1. Project background

The Comité de Coopération avec le Laos (CCL) is implementing the GREEN Project (2023-2026), which aims to strengthen local communities’ resilience to climate change impacts. A key component of this work involves improving sustainable access to clean water by constructing and rehabilitating Gravity-Fed Water Systems (GFS) in targeted villages.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Gravity-Fed Water System (GFS) Technician / Lead Mason to join our team in the field. You will play a crucial role in bringing clean water to communities by leading the construction of vital water infrastructure.

2. Key responsibilities

As the GFS Technician, you will be the technical lead on the construction site, working directly with village communities. Your main tasks will include:

• Supervising Construction: Coordinating, supervising, and monitoring all masonry and plumbing work for water systems (spring catchments, storage reservoirs, pipelines) according to technical designs.
• Training and Guiding: Providing clear instructions and on-the-job training to the village construction committee and local laborers.
• Quality Control: Ensuring all construction works strictly follow the technical plans and quality standards (reinforced concrete, pipe laying, etc.).
• Community Liaison: Working closely with village authorities and the elected Water Committee to ensure their full involvement in the construction process.
• Reporting: Providing daily and verbal reports on work progress to the CCL Project Coordinator.

3. Your Profile:

We are looking for a practical, hands-on individual with:

• Proven experience as a mason, preferably with experience in building water infrastructure (reservoirs, catchment systems) or other reinforced concrete structures.
• Strong skills in reading and interpreting technical construction drawings.
• Experience in supervising teams and leading community-based construction projects.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work patiently and respectfully with village communities.
• Motivation to work in remote rural areas and adapt to basic living conditions.
• Knowledge of HDPE and GSP pipe systems is a strong advantage.
