Lao Friends Hospital for Children (LFHC) is an acute pediatric teaching hospital offering emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and surgical services to babies and children throughout Northern Lao. Limited on-site radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, and child development services, together with an outreach program complement these clinical activities.
Duties and responsibilities:
General description
IT Officer plays a critical role in managing and maintaining LFHC information technology systems and infrastructure, making sure that IT services run smoothly, securely, and efficiently and enabling the organization to achieve its business objectives.
Areas of duties and responsibilities/accountabilities
- Liaise closely with LFHC staff (Laotian and expats) to ensure that information technology projects maximally support clinical workflows to provide the highest quality of patient care possible.
- Provide help desk support by phone or in person promptly and ensure minimum disruption of the clinical activity, interacting with end users to help resolve IT-related issues and provide answers in a timely manner.
- Install and configure computer hardware, and software such as operating systems and applications.
- Contribute to the IT Asset Management with the It Team
- Troubleshoot system and network problems and diagnose and solve hardware/software faults.
- Help building clinical reports
- Replace parts as required and/or interface with vendors to do so.
- Be pro-active and liaise with IT Team to contribute writing IT processes and policies
- Follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system.
- Work continuously on a task until completion (or refer to third parties, if appropriate).
- Maintain Information System with appropriate tools and as scheduled.
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency in Windows, Windows server and macOS (Linux, Linux server are a plus).
- Knowledge of system configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of network protocols, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Experience with CCTV, PBX and Unifi.
- Knowledge of network security practices.
- Ability to install, configure, and maintain servers, desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of basic hardware such as computer hardware, access point, printer configuration
- Knowledge of office software like Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Sharepoint, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 is a plus
- Clear and concise communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to write user manuals, documentation, and reports.
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
- Prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines, handling multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously, being reliable and consistent in performance and availability.
- Staying current with the latest technology trends and adapting to new tools and systems.
- Good level of English
Qualifications
- From Diploma to Bachelor Degree in computer or information science, or computer engineering is required for this position
