Community Development and Environment Association

Mission Statement

Programme Description

In early 2004 the government unveiled its new policy on local not-for-profit organisations (NPO) and their role in the socio-economic development of the country. Under this new policy the Community Development and Environment Association (CDEA) was officially registered with the Lao PDR government on the 12th February 2004, under the Lao Union of Science and Engineering Association (LUSEA), permission letter No. 530/04/NCS.
This was in response to the need, among others, for an organization that could provide guidance for local community organizations involved in a broad range of environmental and community development activities within the Lao PDR.
The CDEA strives to empower those who are poor and marginalized in rural and urban communities.
They support these communities to enhance their lives, through cultural, social and economic development projects, such as Village Banks Saving Groups and Organic Composting Schemes.
Supporting communities to organize themselves in such a way that they have access to resources which will enhance and improve their standard of living.
