Mission Statement

A world in which people disadvantaged by disability and poverty are able to exercise their full human rights and participate in the economic and social life of their communities.

Programme Description

Power International advances the well-being of people with disabilities in Africa and Asia. We do this through the development of programmes and partnerships with local representative disability organizations. We provide strategic planning and support, governance and oversight and, technical assistance and programme guidance.

 

Our programmes have an impact on:

 

 

Built into Power’s work is recognition that HIV/Aids is a disability issue from the point at which the patient enters the ill-phase of the disease and develops an infection or impairment which prevents his/her normal functioning.

Cooperation and partnering with Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, Lao Disabled Peoples Association (LDPA) and provincial DPA branches in Oudomxai, Saravan, Xekong, Luang Prabang, and Xayaboury provinces.  Association and cooperation with Women’s Legal Education Association (WLEA), Lao Bar Association (LBA), Technical and Vocational School of Oudomxai, and LBA legal aid clinic in Oudomxai Province.  Capacity and skills building with local organizations, education, NFE, and training schools, and GOL offices.
