Project Officer Livelihoods and Climate Resilience, Phou Xiengthong Project, WWF-Laos
Position title: Project Officer Livelihoods and Climate Resilience for Phou Xiengthong Project, WWF-Laos
Location: Khongsedone District, Salavan province – with extensive travel to the sites.
Open for: Lao national
The PXT-PT Project Livelihoods and Climate Resilience Officer is based in Salavanh Province, with regular travel to project sites within the XBH priority site, regular travel to Savannakhet and occasional travel related to FW program implementation. He is responsible for the livelihood’s component of projects in the PXT-PT. Under the PXT-PT Project he/she maintains strong communication to the project team in Thailand. He/she also supports other project activities when needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and ensure the implementation of monthly work plans in collaboration with the direct line manager and government counterparts.
- Provide input to the development and revision of project annual work plan.
- Ensure active participation of women in all field activities.
- Strengthen technical capacity for target groups through livelihood trainings and skill development.
- Implement, in partnership with the Livestock and Fisheries Section of Salavan Province, the work plan of the project, including:
o Village baseline and end line surveys.
o Setting up and supporting women-led alternative sources of income.
o Implement Ecosystem Based Adaptation (EBA), Nature Based Solution (NBS) and Climate
Change Adaptation (CCA) activities in the target villages.
o In cooperation with other project staff, organize meetings, workshops, study tours and training; courses and facilitate workshops, and consultations with communities and stakeholders;
o Provide training to staff including government partners and stakeholders to help them understand the project when required and Conduct awareness raising sessions in target villages.
- Monitor activity implementation, identify arising issues and provide solutions to address them.
- Develop and maintain a database of all technical reports, presentations, maps, data and pictures produced by the project in the field of work, document the lessons.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, six-monthly and yearly progress.
- Ensure effective communication and cooperation with the Thai team, efficient use of budget for the livelihoods and climate resilience activities in compliance with WWF policy.
- Promote the organization’s image in the community by actively seeking community input in activity design and implementation.
The specific qualifications required Project Officer Livelihoods and Climate Resilience for Phou Xiengthong
- Bachelor’s degree in either agriculture, forestry, conservation, natural resources management or in other relevant fields.
- Qualification in Project Management is preferred,
- Experience in rural areas, community development, livelihoods are preferred,
Other positions required bachelor’s degree on environmental science, natural resources management, social science, organizational management, development studies, Information management systems, or in relevant fields.
Qualifications required
- 3 to 5 years of working experience with international NGOs is desirable.
- Demonstrate good command in English both written and verbal communication.
- Proven ability to work under minimum supervision and take initiative while keeping in check all relevant regulations and organization’s policies.
- Experience in data collection, data entry, data processing, and analysis for project.
