Program Implementation Support Consultant

          PSI is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C. that harnesses the vitality of the private sector to address the health problems of low-income and vulnerable populations in more than 60 developing countries. With programs in malaria, reproductive health, child survival, HIV, and sanitation, PSI promotes products, services and healthy behavior that enable low-income and vulnerable people to lead healthier lives.

Job Summary:

        We are seeking an International Fellow to play an important role in assisting the PSI platform on various programmatic areas of intervention, e.g. malaria elimination, sexual reproductive health, disease surveillance and response, etc. and to support the various PSI departments, e.g. monitoring, evaluation and research, sales and marketing, admin and procurement, etc. The fellow will perform a vital role in supporting these teams to meet their goals by working on findings report writing, data visualization, abstract writing, technology integrations, and other support functions.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is already based geographically in Lao PDR and familiar with Lao culture and the political system. We value self-starters that seek out opportunities to fill gaps across the organization. Fellows are encouraged to explore their interests and learn about PSI’s various health areas with any free time they have.


I. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The fellowship role includes, but is not limited to, the following projects and activities which will be required in English language:

  •  Write up concept note or project proposal base on assignment from SMT
  •  Participate in programs annual planning and budgeting
  •  Taking lead on report writing for PSI’s recent Programs activities such as: Malaria, Women Health   Project, Non-Communicable Disease and HIV/TB project.
  • Reviewing English writing from programs team including English testing and interviewing when recruitment new staffs
  •  Prepare related presentation with programs team to present at both internal and external meeting
  • Occasionally travel to provinces base on assignment from line manger
  •  Help project Coordinators to track the budget and annual targets
  •  Help department leads to track work-plans and to follow-up on open items.

II. JOB AND PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

                    EDUCATION

  • Currently pursuing/already received an English-speaking relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MIA, MPH, etc.) or equivalent experience, or an English-speaking undergraduate degree in relevant fields.
            SKILLS
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written close to English native speakers or similar level.
  • Demonstrating the quality of proactiveness and reaching out to others to offer your support. Also being able to hold your own in conversations with partners and prospects.
  • Well organized, personable, critical thinker who enjoys tackling problems, creating and following processes.
  • You like interacting with your colleagues. You are proactive - you see a need and you meet it. You’re bold. You stay positive when faced with challenges, manage your time effectively, and communicate with your team efficiently.
  • You are a dynamic, innovative and strategic thinker who can achieve results in a large and complex organization
  • Knowledge of national health systems, international development and public health issues
  •  Strong analytical, marketing, and research-based decision-making skills
  • Some experience on working with donors funded projects, NGOs or the private sector in Laos or the region are preferable
  • Computer skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email
  • STATA and SPSS experience preferred.

        Minimum Job requirement:
  •   Education:  Currently pursuing/already received an English-speaking relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MIA, MPH, etc.) or equivalent experience, or an English-speaking undergraduate degree in relevant fields.
  • Experiences:  1-2 years working experiences in Program or donor funded projects.
  •  English Competency:  Both verbal and written close to English native speakers or similar level.
  •  Computer Skills:  MS office (Words, Excels, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access) internet web browsers and email
  • Personal Attribute:  Friendly, good organization and communication skills.
