Background Save the
children, SCALING is an EU-funded Nutrition project implemented in the north of
Laos by a consortium of four International Non-Government Organizations (INGOs)
- CARE, CCL, CFL, and SCI as the lead partner. It is a multi-sector project, to
improve food and nutrition security among rural households in the provinces of
Huaphanh, Luang Namtha, Luang Prabang, and Phongsaly. In particular, it aims to
improve the nutritional status of adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating
women, and children <5 years in 420 villages of 14 districts of these
provinces within the period of four years (December 2017-December 2021). As part of the
SBCC Lower secondary school interventions a package of training materials
including curricula and job aids were developed for capacity building of
provincial and district multisector staff and peer educators and teachers in
school. The draft materials were developed in English and to translate the
materials into Lao language. To make the materials user friendly and easily
understood. Purpose of consultancy To review and
revise the content of training materials in Lao and English language to ensure
consistency in terms and content between documents; reduce the amount of
technical language, delete repetitious or redundant text and summarise content
when possible to ensure that materials are user friendly in both Lao and
English Language.
Key activities: o Meet with Save the Children technical team to discuss the SOW and plan
timeline for deliverables o Review content of each document in English and Lao. Note recommendations
for edits within each document o Meet with Save the Children technical team to present recommendations for
edits o Make recommended edits and finalist documents Deliverable o Soft copies of edited documents in English and Lao language o Brief end of consultancy report including any recommendations Timeline October 4th-2019 50% first payment on signing of contract, 50% final
payment on acceptance of satisfactory submission of deliverables and final

duration of the contract is scheduled to last a maximum of September to October
2019 Management of contract The contract will be managed by SCI
SCALING SBCC advisor. The contractor will work in close consultation with the
Save the Children technical team in Luang Prabang and government partners All data collected during this exercise will become the property of Save the Children and will not be shared with third parties without the express permission of Save the Children. Insurance Any external consultants involved
in this consultancy will be required to have in place insurance arrangements
appropriate to provision of the requirements in this Terms of Reference
including travel insurance. Save the Children is committed to
