Consultant for Review and Finalization of the Implementation Guidelines for LANN (Linking Agriculture, Natural Resources and Nutrition)

Background:

LANN – Linking Agriculture, Nutrition and Natural Resource Management is a community-based training approach to address malnutrition in remote areas with low access to public health services.  It has been reviewed in 2016 under the leadership of CARE International in Lao PDR and HELVETAS, and in collaboration with SUN CSA, to strengthen the approach on nutrition behaviour change, to adjust with different implementation experiences and to harmonise it with the national nutrition strategy.

LANN aims at generating awareness and knowledge on causes and consequences of malnutrition and generate community action to address some of the key underlying causes such as linkages between nutrition and agriculture, natural resource management, WASH and use of household resources, and improve nutrition with a particular focus on the nutrition of pregnant women, infants and small children.

 Key Tasks

Under the guidance of INGO partners and SUN CSA:

·   Finalize LANN facilitation guidelines / handbook and annexes LANN - Session 1 - 3 in English and Lao;

·   Prepare and Facilitate Review workshop for LANN session 4 -8

·   Finalize LANN facilitation guidelines / handbook and annexes LANN - Session 4 - 8 in English and Lao

 Mandatory

·      Solid experience in developing highly participatory social behaviour change communication training materials suitable for application in rural areas of Laos.

·      Strong background in nutrition, with a good understanding of how health, food systems and natural resource management, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), gender relations, and infant and young child care practices impact on nutrition

·      At least 5 years experience of community development work, preferably related to nutrition

·      Excellent written and spoken English.  Lao language skills an advantage.

Optional/Desirable

·      A background in community level research and/or developing participatory M&E systems

·      Work experience in a UN agency, iNGO and/or local NGO environment

·      Knowledge of an ethnic Lao language (Khmu, Akha)
