Civil society has become a major force, globally and also increasingly in developing countries. Civil Society serves as a watch dog, an advocate for the excluded, a service provider, a capacity builder for citizens, and even as an incubator for new ideas organisations. Today, civil society is synonymous with ci$zen empowerment as well as checks and balances towards the state and the private sector. However, the pace of change and the influence of civil society highly depends on the capacity of civil society
organisations and specifically their leaders. In this context, “leadership” plays a crucial role in organisational development, influence and ultimately the success of civil society actors in achieving social change.
The course targets the leadership of civil society organisa$ons. This could include Execu$ves, Depu$es, Directors or Department Heads as well as Senior Program staff.
