Pestalozzi Children's Foundation

Mission Statement

Children and adolescents are central to our existence and to our future. They are the focus of all of our activities. This Mission statement forms the basis of our shared vision and how we aim to make it a reality.

Programme Description

The Pestalozzi Children's Foundation is a Swiss organization which offers disadvantaged children and adolescents worldwide access to education and encourages peoples from different cultural backgrounds to live together peacefully as it is politically and religiously neutral.

Pestalozzi Children's Foundation helps children and young people to develop their abilities and fulfil their potential. It supports them to lead an autonomous life and become active and independent members of society. The Foundation's activities are focused on education and intercultural coexistence.

The Pestalozzi Children's Foundation enters into long term technical and financial commitments with local partners. PCF acts not as an implementer, but as a facilitator and consequently, the ownership of the projects remains in the respective country and with the respective partner organizations.

PCF works in partnership with Life Skills Development Association (LSDA) and Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) providing ethnic minority children the opportunity to basic education in the Lao PDR, promoting Indigenous Knowledge integration into the national curricula.

Innovation is that PCF and the partner organisations in the Lao PDR started to adopt and apply Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) “of learning from, respecting, supporting and empowering villagers to make their own decisions” for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project. Now, the PCF operational partners have adopted PLA as their working approach to the project cycle management.
