Mission Statement

To realize a society where all people can live in harmony with each other and with nature by:
1) Supporting people in various parts of the world who are struggling to improve their living conditions despite of their socially imposed hardships; and
2) to create new lifestyles and human relations to protect and revitalize the global environment

Programme Description

JVC presently operates one project across 2 districts (Atsaphone and Phine) in Savannakhet Province (30 villages). Called the Project for food security and livelihood improvement through sustainable agriculture and community based natural resource management, the project operates in the fields of Community Forestry and Natural Agriculture with a focus to increase and stabalise food security for rural communities.

JVC promotes Community Forests to preserve villagers` natural resources and to protect the environment. Through our Community Forestry projects we promote community based natural resource management. We also support the government in undertaking Participatory Land Use Planning (PLUP) at the village level. JVC implements the PLUP programme to facilitate villagers` sustainable use of their own forest resources. We work to give villagers both the legal status and the capacity to allow them to sustainably manage their own natural resources.

Our Natural Agriculture projects follow the Lao governments' policy objective of poverty eradication. We achieve this in a sustainable manner through the efficient utilisation of appropriate natural local resources. Food self-security and integrated and chemical free farming are promoted.
